Malea noronhensis Kempf & Matthews, 1969, p. 57-59, figs. 1-5
[Basis of the current name]
Type Locality: Atol das Rocas, Brazil
Range: 3.9°S to 3.9°S; 33.8°W to 32.5°W
Depth: 0 m
Maximum Reported Size: 70 mm
Distribution: Brazil: Atol das Rocas, Fernando de Noronha
References: Kempf & Matthews (1969) DdM; Leal (1991b) NSEW
Comments: Treated as a subspecies of Malea pomum by Abbott & Dance (1982) and Rios (1985), but Leal (1991b) maintains it as a full species. Leal rejects the Trindade record for this species. The holotype is from Atol das Rocas, which is thus the type locality despite the name of the species, which refers to Fernando de Noronha.
