Details

Oxynoe panamensis Pilsbry & Olsson, 1943, p. 80-81, pl. 8, fig. 8-9
[Basis of the current name]
Type Locality: North shore of Bocas Island, Province of Bocas del Toro, Panama
Range: 9.58°N to 9.4°N; 82.58°W to 82.28°W
Depth: 0 m
Maximum Reported Size: 5.5 mm
Distribution: Costa Rica, Panama
References: Pilsbry & Olsson (1953) DdSEM; Espinosa & Ortea (2001a) NW
Comments: Pilsbry & Olsson (1943) regarded the species as coming from the eastern Pacific. Keen (1971) pointed out that the type locality, if correct, is Caribbean, but recorded similar shells from the eastern Pacific. Olsson & McGinty (1958) noted that Olsson collected at the island of Bocas del Toro in 1917 and 1920, so the type locality does seem to be correct.
