Comments: Dall (1889a) stated on p. 65, 'The more distinctly reticulated variety I suppose from the figures to be Terebra lutescens E. A. Smith', but on p. 63 attributed the name to himself. On p. 8 he attributed it to "(Smith?) Dall", showing that he intended to use the varietal name lutescens whether or not the E. A. Smith name proved applicable. At the time he was writing, homonymy among varietal names was generally ignored.
