Pleurotoma pygmaea C. B. Adams, 1850c, p. 63, Not figured
[Basis of the current name]

Range: 18°N to 12°N; 77°W to 69°W

References: C. B. Adams (1850c) NWM; Costa & Absalao (1998)
Comments: Non Philippi, 1844. Faber (2004c) considered this a synonym of S. minus, apparently on the basis of Clench & Turner's lectotype illustration of Pleurotoma minor (1950, pl. 31, fig. 7). The figured specimen, however, does not match the original description, having too many axial ribs and lacking the bands of color, and the lectotype designation is invalid (Malacolog 3.4).
Combining Genera:  Defrancia
