Comments: Circumpolar; also occurs in southern hemisphere, 38 to 60°S (Bé & Gilmer 1977). Records from the Gulf of Mexico (e.g., Suárez 1994) need confirmation.

Comments: Thompson attributed this name to Forbes, and used it as a replacement for Fusus retroversus Fleming. Forbes (1844: 186) named the genus Peracle, but did not mention P. flemingi. Thompson (1844: 248) acknowledges the assistance of Forbes, so I attribute the name to Forbes in Thompson (1844) (Rosenberg herein, 22 Jan 2007).
