Comments: Cate named Neosimnia spelta capitia as a Western Atlantic subspecies of the Eastern Atlantic N. spelta. The holotype was supposedly collected off Sombrero Island in 1877-78. As no more specimens have been found, the type locality is regarded as erroneous and Cate's taxon is relegated to the synonymy of N. spelta.
