Distribution: USA: Florida: East Florida; Mexico: unlocalized; Costa Rica, Cuba, Cayman Islands: Grand Cayman Island; Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Brazil: Sao Paulo

Comments: Ortea (2001a: 4) rejects non-Brazilian records of this species as not matching the original description, specifically Marcus & Marcus (1960) from Florida and Chile and Thompson (1980) from Jamaica. Hess & Abbott's record from Grand Cayman was not addressed, nor Forcelli's (2000) from Patagonia. Valdés et al. (2006) reinstate the species as ranging as far north as Florida.
