[Basis of the current name]
Type Locality: Miocene, Natural Well and Magnolia, Duplin County, North Carolina
Maximum Reported Size: 5 mm
References: Dall (1900) M
Comments: Reported off North Carolina by Turgeon et al. (1998) on the basis of records in Dall (1900), but Dall proposed the name Anisodonta carolina for Miocene specimens, and his citations of Recent and Pleistocene specimens applied to A. elliptica. Coan (1997: 111) noted that Anisodonta carolina is not a living species.
