(1998) on the basis of records in Dall (1900), but Dall proposed the name Anisodonta carolina for Miocene specimens, and his citations of Recent and Pleistocene specimens applied to A. elliptica. Coan (1997: 111) noted that Anisodonta carolina is not a living species.
