Dall (1889b) records the species' northern range limit as the Gulf of Maine, but this may be based on Verrill's record off Cape Cod (the southern limit of the the Gulf of Maine), which was actually take far south of Cape Cod (Malacolog 3.4.0). Dall (1889b) records the southern range limit as Fernandina [off Georgia], but his 1927 paper on that area does not mention this species (Malacolog 3.4.0).
