References: Springer & Bullis (1956) DNW; Radwin (1969) S; E. H. Vokes (1990b) d; Sunderland & Sunderland (1995a); Fernández Milera (1998)
Comments: E. H. Vokes (1990b) restricted the distribution to 'Bahamas to Panama', with C. dilectus being restricted to the Gulf of Mexico, but did not give the status of East Florida records, which are neither Gulf nor Caribbean. Also, Vokes synonymized C. rachelcarsonae Petuch, 1987 with C. dilectus whereas Houart (1994) synonymized it with C. florifer, which makes more sense given the single intervarical node and strong shoulder spine well separated from the suture. If this synonymy is correct then C. florifer does occur in the Gulf of Mexico.
