Comments: The status of Oliva formosa is controversial. Petuch & Sargent (1986) classified it as a form of O. bewleyi, Sterba (2004) as a synonym of O. bifasciata, and Hunon, Hoarau & Robin (2009) as a synonym of O. reticularis. Based on the illustration of the holotype in Tursch & Greifeneder (2001), I concur with Sterba that it is a synonym of O. bifasciata, however, it is an older name for that species, and so is used here as valid (Rosenberg, herein, 17 April 2009).
