Conus inscriptus Reeve, 1843, [Basis of the current name] Comments: This Indo-Pacific species is listed here as the probable senior synonym of Conus cavailloni, which was erroneously described with a Western Atlantic type locality.
Conus cavailloni Fenaux, 1942, [Synonym] Maximum Reported Size: 47.5 mm References: Röckel, Korn & Kohn (1995) Ms Comments: Clench (1953b) doubted the type locality of Bermuda. Since then, the name has been synonymized, with varying degrees of certainty, with Conus spurius by Wagner & Abbott (1967), C. regularis by Wagner & Abbott (1978), C. lynceus by Walls (1979), C. keatii by Coomans, Moolenbeek & Wils (1983); and C. inscriptus by Röckel, Korn & Kohn (1995).
