Triforis intermediusDall, 1881, p. 85-86, not figured [Basis of the current name] Type Locality: Blake sta. 2 [off Havana], 805 fathoms Range: 23.23°N to 22°N; 85°W to 82.42°W Depth: 1171 to 1472 m Maximum Reported Size: 11 mm Distribution: Cuba: Pinar del Rio, North Havana Province References: Dall (1881) DSEWM; Abbott (1974) dN; Rolán & Fernández-Garcés (2008b) v Comments: The lectotype selected by Rolán & Fernández-Garcés (2008b) is invalid because, as they state, it is part of the type series of T. triserialis, not of T. intermedia; also, it does not come from the locality mentioned by Dall (1881) for T. intermedia. Rios (1985) reidentified (as Triphora longissima) the Brazilian shell he illustrated as Triphora triserialis in 1975; the true identity of Rios's material remains to be determined. Abbott's (1974: 112) record from 30-50 fathoms off West Florida needs confirmation.
