Comments: Eastern Atlantic records are erroneous fide Rolàn & Fernandez (1990). Lyons (1989b) noted that at least five species (some as yet undescribed) have been reported under this name. Olsson & Harbison (1953) noted two different protoconchs, as did Thiriot-Quiévreux (1980), who introduce the unavailable varietal name Seila adamsii var. beauforti.
