Comments: Wakefield, Boyer & McCleery (2002) note that the species has not been recorded in Jamaica since the original description, but is well known from the southern Caribbean. Volvarina navicella (Reeve, 1865) and V. cessaci Jousseaume, 1881 were synonymized with V. rubella by Wagner & Abbott (1978), but are Eastern Atlantic.
