Comments: Pimenta & Absalao (2001) state that the lectotype (from Argentina) designated by Aguirre (1993) does not match the original figure or description, and is not a turbonillid; they intend to apply to the ICZN to have the designation set aside and the remaining paralectotype (from Rio de Janeiro) declared the lectotype. They also state that specimens figured as T. americana by Rios (1994) and Castellanos (1967) are misidentified.
